Alissa has a profound appreciation and respect for this medicine and considers herself a lifetime student. She believes that in working alongside her patients, by guiding them towards their health goals, an environment is created in which healing can emanate.

Meet Alissa Hickerson LAc, EAMP

Alissa is passionate about healing others through natural, safe, and effective methods. She empowers her patients with the tools, knowledge, and mindset they need to take back autonomy over their health. Her methods aim to get patients on the path to recovery as quickly as possible. Treatments are tailored to each person based on the underlying patterns which weave themselves into different presentations. Focusing to resolve the body's deeper pathological state than just a quick fix approach to mask symptoms is the standard of medicine she holds herself accountable for providing.

Alissa graduated from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. She was trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which includes acupuncture and other therapies such as cupping, moxibustion, massage, and herbal medicine. She has a strong interest in women’s health, sleep disorders, digestive health, dermatological conditions, and pain management. Alissa completed her post-graduate training at Chengdu University of TCM in Chengdu, China.

Before going to Bastyr University, Alissa graduated with a bachelor's in Health Sciences and worked as a physical therapist technician. Working alongside a licensed Physical Therapist, she treated many patients who sought pain management treatment regarding their chronic low back pain, neck pain, hip pain, automobile accidents, frozen shoulders, and much more. After seeing how the body is capable of healing itself with a bit of guidance in the right direction, her desire to learn more sent her back to seek higher education in the hopes of reaching more people who are in need.

When not practicing medicine, you can find Alissa attending a ballet class, practicing piano, gardening, hiking & backpacking, spending time with her dog, attending a concert, our learning how to be a better steward of the environment! Ask her about her favorite local vegan eateries when you see her next.
